Degrees and Certifications:
Hola, students, parents, staff, and community. My name is Norma Rodarte. I am from Zacatecas, Mexico, but I was raised in Lake Arrowhead, CA (San Bernardino mountains). I attended Rim of The World Unified School District. After graduating from Mountain High School, I transferred to San Bernardino Valley College (SBVC) earning my Liberal Arts Degree. I then transferred to California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB) where I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. Three months after I graduated, I was granted the opportunity to work with The Carolyn E. Wylie Center for Children Youth (TWC), & Families as an outreach counselor. At the TWC, I provided crisis intervention, (short-term individual counseling, group counseling, and classroom presentations) for youth involved in substance use/abuse or other forms of behavior detriment to personal, social, and academic adjustment. Through these six years of experience as well as overcoming my own detriment as a child/youth, I was encouraged to pursue my Master’s in Education Counseling and Guidance and my Pupil Personnel Service Credential.
My compassion to serve and guide others is inevitable. I firmly believe it is vital to assist youth in becoming aware of how resilient they are and to guide them towards connecting with their core (authentic self) because the key for their success is in their power. I am honored to be the school counselor for Arlanza Elementaryand proud to be a new member of the AUSD Family.
