BFFs and BFF Jrs are anti-bullying/pro-friendship clubs here at Orrenmaa. We started BFF in the Spring of 2011 as a project for the READ 180 class on campus. We had just finished a unit learning about bullying and how to deal with it. The students thought it would be a good idea to start the club to teach others on the campus what they had learned. Since then, it has been a regular on our campus.
Our philosophy is simple. Bullying will not be tolerated on campus. Having said that, we feel it is important to understand the types of bullying, why people become bullies, and how to deal with it in a positive way. We then teach and encourage positive friendly behaviors to replace the bullying/negative behavior.
This year our theme is "You will never regret doing the right thing!" We are learning, teaching, and reinforcing doing what is right whether it is popular or not. To accomplish this, the leaders are focusing on teaching 16 basic social skills as suggested by Boystown.org
