Principals Welcome
  • Dear Families and students,

First, I would like to welcome back our returning families and of course welcome our new families. We are still excited about the accomplishments of this past year; helping more than 95 students earn their high school diploma. This accomplishment is even more important to our community when we consider that these 95 plus students were once at risk of dropping out of high school. We are proud that our district, through this program, can provide a setting for students that need a second chance, a program that can help them recover credits and a place where students can realize their unlimited potential.

We continue to grow as a program, in order to meet the needs of the community we serve. During the 2014-2015 school year we added a full time High School Counselor to our staff, this year we will welcome a second High School Mathematics Teacher. This second math teacher will help us expand our math intervention courses, as well as help us target the specific math needs of our student population.

As the Principal of the AACHS (Alvord Alternative Continuation High School) my focus will continue to center on redefining and establishing programs for students who pursue an alternative educational pathway. To accomplish this goal, I will also continue to collaborate with all partners for the benefit of our students and the future of our community.

Finally, I will emphasize the importance of collaboration, which includes you as the parent/guardian. We as a staff did help more than 95 students refocus, recover credits, graduate and more importantly realize they are capable of great things; however, in every case parent involvement and communication was the most important factor in determining a student’s success. With that said, we as a staff ask that you continue to be the support that your student needs, communicate with staff and administration, be involved with School Site Council, be involved with our ELAC group and most importantly have your student at school every day on time. We must work as a team to ensure that your student realizes his/her unlimited potential.

    Sincerely,

    Mr. Jason Marquez – Principal

    Alvord Alternative Continuation High School
