Student Work Permits - General Information

Requirements
.All students under the age of 18 must have a work permit BEFORE they start working. 
Work permits are required at all times. The work permit office is open during the summer for students who want to work over summer. 
Students must meet the minimum requirements in order to qualify for a work permit:

  • Minimum of a 2.0 GPA
  • No "F"'s currently or on the most recent progress report or grading period
  • Acceptable attendance (no excessive unexcused absences or tardies)

All work permits (except Entertainment Permits) are issued at the work permit office located at Alvord High School. 
Work permits are issued by appointment only. 

Renewals
Work permits are only valid for one school year and expire at the beginning of every school year.
If student is still working, they must renew their work permit. 
Work permit renewals cannot be issued until after school starts. (August 7th). 
Students renewing work permits must provide a new work permit application signed by parent/guardian and employer.
 

Please Note

WORK PERMITS FOR THE 2024-2025 SCHOOL YEAR WILL NOT BE REISSUED UNTIL AFTER AUGUST 5TH.

ANY RENEWAL APPOINTMENTS SCHEDULED BEFORE THIS DATE WILL NOT BE ABLE TO BE RENEWED UNTIL THIS DATE.

WORK PERMITS ARE REQUIRED FOR ALL MINORS WORKING AT ANY TIME INCLUDING BREAKS AND SUMMER

WILL BE ISSUED BY APPOINTMENT ONLY 

  • APPOINMENTS WILL BE SCHEDULED MONDAY-THURSDAY. SAME DAY APPOINTMENTS ARE NOT AVAILABLE.
  • IF YOU ARRIVE MORE THAN 5 MINUTES BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT TIME, PLEASE WAIT IN YOUR CAR.
  • IF YOU ARE MORE THAN 10 MINUTES LATE, YOUR APPOINTMENT WILL BE RESCHEDULED.

The work permit office is locted at Alvord High School at 3606 Pierce St., Riverside, CA 92503, Room 13.
